Can a laser clear active acne?

Yes. The Aerolase medical laser treats active acne at its drivers: it targets acne-causing bacteria and the overactive glands feeding breakouts, and calms the surrounding inflammation, in comfortable sessions with no downtime. It is a different tool than skincare, working on the machinery of the breakout rather than the surface residue of it.

Heat the target, spare the skin

Aerolase delivers its energy in an ultra-short, high-powered pulse through a large spot size, with no contact and no cooling gel touching the skin. That pulse profile lets it heat what it is aimed at, an acne-causing gland, the bacteria in a breakout, while sparing the surrounding tissue, which is why sessions stay gentle and need no numbing.

The same selectivity is why treatment is safe across skin tones, including deeper and tanned skin: the energy discriminates by target, not by complexion. For anyone told previously that laser acne treatment was not for their skin, that answer was about older technology, not this one.

Clearing is progressive

Acne is a cycle, oil, bacteria, inflammation, repeat, and laser treatment interrupts it session by session. Results build progressively: active lesions calm, new breakouts arrive less often, and skin tone evens as inflammation quiets. Sessions run 20 to 30 minutes with no downtime, which makes the consistency that acne treatment genuinely requires practical to keep.

There is a second reason to treat active acne seriously, and it is the more permanent one: breakouts left to run their course can leave lasting pitting scars. Clearing the acne is also the act of protecting the skin those breakouts sit on.

Where it fits in a plan

Laser treatment does not replace daily skincare; it does what skincare cannot, reaching the glands and bacteria below the reach of anything applied to the surface. For many clients the combination is the answer: clinical sessions to break the cycle, sensible care to hold the ground between them. Marie assesses severity and history at consultation and is direct about what the laser can carry alone.

Common questions

Does it hurt?

No numbing is needed. The no-contact delivery and ultra-short pulses keep sessions comfortable, and most clients return straight to their day afterward.

How many sessions will I need?

Clearing is progressive and acne severity varies too much for an honest universal number. Marie maps a plan to your skin at consultation and adjusts it as your skin responds.

Will it work on deep, cystic breakouts?

Deeper acne is exactly where reaching below the surface matters most, but severity and history determine the right plan, sometimes in combination with other care. That assessment is what the consultation is for.
