The XERF, made by Korean device maker Lutronic, is a structural skin-tightening system built around one idea: send multifrequency radiofrequency energy to several depths of the skin in the same session, deep enough to reach the layers where firmness is actually decided. It contracts existing collagen for an immediate firming effect, switches on production of new collagen and elastin, and does all of it with no needles, no numbing, and no downtime.
Multifrequency, multiple depths
Radiofrequency behaves differently at different frequencies: each penetrates to a different depth. Where most RF devices commit to one depth, XERF's multifrequency delivery lets a single session treat the dermis, where collagen and elastin are produced, the support layer beneath it, and the SMAS, the structural foundation a surgical facelift repositions.
At each depth the mechanism is the same: gentle warming, precisely dosed, enough to trigger the body's repair response without injuring the surface. Existing collagen fibers contract when warmed, which reads as immediate firming, while the repair response builds fresh collagen and elastin over the weeks that follow.
Comfort as an engineering choice
Because the energy works from within, nothing punctures the skin: no needles, no injections. Integrated cooling protects the surface throughout, so sessions need no numbing and carry no recovery; most clients compare the experience to a warm, relaxing massage and return straight to their day.
The same physics is why XERF suits every skin tone. Radiofrequency energy does not target pigment the way light-based devices do, so complexion never limits candidacy.
What it treats
XERF addresses skin laxity and early sagging, fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness along the jaw and neck, and crepey, uneven texture, the whole family of structural aging signs. Results build gradually as new collagen forms, leaving skin tighter, smoother, and more lifted over time; the dedicated XERF results article covers that timeline in detail.
Common questions
How is XERF different from RF microneedling?
Both use radiofrequency, but RF microneedling delivers the energy through fine needles inserted into the skin, while XERF delivers it from the surface with integrated cooling and no needles at all. Which suits your skin and goals is decided at consultation. Compare XERF and Profound RF.
Is XERF safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. Radiofrequency does not target pigment, so the treatment is safe and effective for every skin tone.
When do results appear?
Some firming shows immediately as existing collagen contracts, and the real lift builds gradually as new collagen and elastin form in the weeks after treatment. See how Marie plans XERF treatment.
