What is lip contouring downtime like?

Plan for 1 to 2 days of downtime after a 30 to 45 minute session. Results are visible immediately, which is one of lip contouring's satisfactions, but the shape you leave with is not quite the shape you keep: the first days include some settling as mild swelling passes, and the refined result emerges on the other side.
The first 48 hours
Lips are among the most vascular, sensitive areas on the face, so a mild, temporary reaction to precise injections is normal and expected: some swelling and tenderness that peaks early and eases over the 1 to 2 day window. This is the skin responding to the work, not a sign something went wrong.
You will leave your appointment with aftercare guidance specific to your treatment. The essentials are gentleness with the area and patience with the mirror; anything that concerns you beyond mild, fading swelling is worth a message, and both phone lines are listed on every page of this site.
Immediate results, settled results
Because the product adds shape the moment it is placed, you see the direction of the result immediately. Judge the final version after the settling passes, when early swelling is gone and the filler has integrated. The definition and proportion Marie designed are what remain; the first-day fullness is partly temporary by nature.
Planning around events
The practical rule: do not schedule lip work the day before photographs. Leave the 1 to 2 day settling window plus margin, and the result will be at its refined best rather than its freshest. For a wedding or major event, building the look across a visit or two well ahead of the date is the calmer path than a single session close to it.
Common questions
What is normal during the settling window and what is not?
Mild swelling and tenderness that fade over 1 to 2 days are normal. Anything that worsens instead of eases, or anything that simply worries you, deserves a prompt message to the studio; you will have contact guidance from your appointment.
When does the final shape show?
Once the early swelling has fully passed and the filler has settled, shortly after the 1 to 2 day window for most people. The immediate result shows the direction; the settled result is the one to evaluate.
Can I go back to work the same day?
Most clients can return to their normal day immediately; the downtime is about how the lips look and feel, not about being out of commission. Schedule around cameras and big occasions rather than around the office.
