Is XERF right for loose neck skin?

Yes, when the problem is laxity: neck skin that has thinned, lost recoil, and started to gather into horizontal creases or a softer line under the jaw. XERF delivers multifrequency radiofrequency to the dermis, the support layer beneath it, and the SMAS, prompting existing collagen to contract and new collagen to form over 2 to 6 months, with no needles and no downtime. It is not the tool for a fat pocket under the chin, and it will not replace surgery once laxity has advanced past what energy can tighten.

Why the neck shows laxity first

The skin of the neck is thinner than the skin of the cheek, with less underlying fat to keep it smooth and a constant load from head movement. When collagen production slows, that thinner skin loses its recoil sooner, which is why crepey texture, horizontal lines, and a blurred angle between jaw and neck often appear before the face itself looks aged.

That thinness is also why the neck responds well to a treatment built on depth control. XERF reaches three layers in each pass, from the dermis where collagen and elastin are produced down to the SMAS, the structural layer a surgical facelift repositions, while integrated cooling protects the surface. Thin skin gets the energy where structure lives without being overheated at the top.

Laxity, fat, or both

A softer neckline can come from three different things: skin that has loosened, a pocket of fat under the chin, or both together. XERF addresses the first. Tightening skin over a fat pad firms the surface but leaves the fullness in place, which is why Marie assesses the tissue before recommending anything. Fat that persists regardless of weight is a job for deoxycholic acid injections, and the two treatments are often sequenced together in one plan.

The other honest limit is degree. XERF is designed for mild to moderate laxity, skin that has slackened but still has structure to rebuild. When the neck has advanced to heavy folds or banding, energy can improve texture but cannot reposition tissue; that is surgical territory, and Marie will say so.

What a neck series looks like

Because the energy is radiofrequency rather than light, it is safe across every skin tone. Sessions are comfortable enough that most clients describe a warm massage, and any mild redness settles within a few hours. Results build as new collagen forms, typically over 2 to 6 months, so a short series followed by periodic maintenance is the usual shape of a plan. How many sessions and how far apart is set at consultation, not from a menu.

Common questions

Does XERF remove fat under the chin?

No. XERF tightens skin by remodeling collagen; it does not dissolve fat. A fat pocket under the chin is treated with deoxycholic acid injections, and Marie can sequence both when fullness and laxity are present together.

Will my neck look tighter right after the session?

Sometimes slightly, because warmed collagen contracts. The meaningful change arrives as new collagen builds over the following 2 to 6 months, so judge the result at the end of that window rather than in the mirror on the way out.

Is there anything I cannot do after a neck treatment?

No. There is no downtime and nothing to recover from. Sun protection supports the collagen your skin is building, and Marie will give any guidance specific to your plan.
