What is the Tight and Bright laser facial?

The Tight and Bright is a laser facial built on the Candela PicoWay, a picosecond laser whose pulses last trillionths of a second. Rather than heating the skin, those ultra-short bursts create a gentle photoacoustic effect beneath the surface that stimulates collagen and elastin, so skin becomes firmer, brighter, and more even over a series of sessions, with little to no downtime.

Picoseconds, not heat

Most lasers work photothermally: they heat their target, and the heat does the work. The PicoWay belongs to a different class. Its pulses are so short, measured in picoseconds, that energy arrives faster than heat can meaningfully build. The result is a photoacoustic effect, a micro-mechanical impulse in the tissue rather than a burn.

Because the energy works below the surface and leaves the outer skin intact, sessions stay comfortable and recovery stays minimal. That is the engineering reason a treatment this effective can still be a lunchtime appointment.

Where tight and bright both come from

The same picosecond energy does two jobs. Deeper in the skin, it stimulates fresh collagen and elastin production, the structural proteins behind firmness, which is the tight. Nearer the surface, the PicoWay platform is also a specialist at breaking up unwanted pigment, shattering it into particles the body clears naturally, which is where the bright comes from: clearer, more even tone emerging over the weeks after each session.

Its multiple wavelengths let Marie tailor each session to your concern and your skin tone, from surface sun spots to deeper, stubborn pigment, while the collagen-building effect accumulates underneath.

A facial in name, a laser in mechanism

The word facial sets the experience expectation correctly, comfortable, quick, no dramatic aftermath, but the mechanism is nothing like a spa facial. A traditional facial works on the surface you already have; this one changes what the skin is building underneath. The glow from a surface facial lasts until the skin cycles; collagen and elastin, once built, are yours.

Common questions

Is it safe for my skin tone?

The PicoWay's multiple wavelengths exist precisely so treatment can be tailored to different skin tones and concerns. Your skin is assessed at consultation and settings are chosen for it specifically, never run from a default.

Does it hurt?

Sessions are designed to stay comfortable. Because the picosecond pulses work without meaningfully heating the skin, treatment needs no numbing and most clients return straight to their day.

How is this different from a chemical peel?

A peel exfoliates the surface layer so newer skin can replace it. The Tight and Bright works beneath an intact surface, stimulating the collagen, elastin, and pigment clearance below. They solve different problems and judge on different timelines.
